Dwelling of the Day: Profile House

  • Posted by SHFT on April 28, 2013 in Architecture
  • The Profile House, designed by Black Line One X Architecture Studio (BLOXAS), is an expressive homage to the industrial character of  Brunswick East, a neighborhood in Melbourne's inner north.

Seeking an addition to their Californian Bungalow, the clients emphasized the sustainable performance of their future home. They also wanted a space with a feeling of openness, lightness, and visual continuity, connecting their home and landscape.

BLOXAS delivered, with a home whose defining visual expression is distinct timber contour that references traditional structures in the neighborhood. It also provides for clean, light-filled internal living spaces. Each internal space is defined by high undulating ceilings, which, along with reclaimed wood decking and a smaller light-well to the west, allow natural light to penetrate throughout the entire plan.

Looks like an amazing place to call home. View more photos at ArchDaily.
