SHFT had it's maiden voyage to Austin for SXSW, where we announced our first app, FOOD TRIPPING, with our long-time partners Ford Motor Company to a receptive and hungry crowd. Sam de La Garza of Ford introduced Peter and Adrian who showed off the designs.
Next up was SHFT's first collaboration with The Weather Company - a panel discussion called CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE INDIVIDUAL, moderated by Ellen McGirt from Fast Company, featuring TWC CEO David Kenny, and Climatologist Jeff Masters, along with Peter and Adrian. It was noteworthy and inspiring to see Mr. Kenny speak so directly and forcefully about the threat of climate change and the best ways to engage the public in the discussion.
Then it was onto the NEXT STAGE, SXSW's main venue, where Peter and Adrian paneled on THE POWER OF GOOD: ACTIVATE YOUR AUDIENCE FOR A CAUSE. They were joined by Lisa Pike Sheehy of Patagonia, singer Ryan Bingham, Stephen Fox of Drink Water, and the Gist Lab. Some of our best WATCH clips were screened as well.
Then, as if that weren't enough, we hosted a dinner with TWC and Ford at nearby Springdale Farm, where chef Sonya Cote over delivered a stellar meal, paired with SHFT Wine, straight from the dirt and onto the plate. As Sonya declared, "Everything served for this meal was procured, shot, and killed right here in Texas."
The unique and ridiculous RVIP, a roving karoke lounge on wheels dreamed up by our good friends Kestrin Pantera and Jonathan Grubb, brought guests back into town, (while singing and drinking), to the Wreckroom music showcase, where The Skins played, followed by a DJ set from artist and SHFTer Shepard Fairey.
All in a day's work.
