The Future of Flying

  • Posted by on August 3, 2010 in Design
  • Inhabitat reports that Boeing has released its SUGAR Volt commercial airplane concept, and the aircraft is something to behold. Relying on an electric battery gas turbine hybrid propulsion system, the SUGAR Volt reduces overall fuel usage by up to 70%. This technology not only makes the aircraft much more effecient, but also shortens the takeoff of the flight and drastically reduces noise pollution. NASA has declared the concept "a clear winner" that could revolutionize commercial air transport for the greener. Too bad we will have to wait 30 years before the SUGAR Volt is flying us home.
