Longtime farming advocate Willie Nelson lends his voice to Coldplay's "The Scientist" in this charming piece of stop motion from Johnny Kelly. The story follows the plight of a farmer who, in an effort to modernize his farm, turns it into an industrial animal factory. Seeing the error of his ways, he reverts back to a small-scale, sustainable farm.
The film was commissioned by Chipotle "to emphasize the importance of developing a sustainable food system." That may seem a little disingenuous coming from a massive restaurant chain, but Chipotle's greening efforts speak volumes. As Morgan Clendaniel points out at Fast Company, the company recently committed to using more than 10 million pounds of local produce in its restaurants.
The film's soundtrack is available for purchase on iTunes, with proceeds from the sale of the song benefiting the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation.
Also worth checking: the Back to the Start – Behind the Scenes video. The amount of talent and effort put into to making the clip is pretty incredible.
