This jaw-dropping new time-lapse video was cobbled together using images from Elektro-L, a Russian weather satellite that's currently orbiting about 22,000 miles above Earth. It's a stunner.
The video, created by the person behind the Planet Earth website, shows off Earth’s northern hemisphere in crystal clear and vibrantly-colored images. The satellite reportedly creates a 121 megapixel image every 30 minutes using a combination of visible and infrared wavelengths of light, with the infrared depicting plantlife in a rusty color.
In a word, wow.
