Sour "Life Is Music"

    Japanese band Sour have shared a video for "Life is Music," which they animated entirely using compact discs. The discs were imprinted with shapes and figures, then spun using phenakistoscope animation to make the images appear to move. For those who don't know (we didn't, either), a phenakistoscope is a simple animation technique that dates back over 80 years. In this video, the method is skilfully employed to animate the band members, spell out "Life is Music" on a wall of discs, and shift patterns across adjacent CDs. The band, which crowdfunded the project, has also released a "making of" video.
