Slow Life by Daniel Stoupin
Daniel Stoupin, a PhD student at the University of Queensland in Australia, combined macro, aquatic and time-lapse photography to create this hypnotic underwater clip. The video, titled “Slow Life,” was assembled from over 150,000 close-up photographs of exotic corals, showing their secret lives under high magnification. “Corals and sponges are very mobile creatures, but their motion is only detectable at different time scales compared to ours and requires time lapses to be seen,” he says. “These animals build coral reefs and play crucial roles in the biosphere, yet we know almost nothing about their daily lives.”
