With this tripped-out video, artist Ursula Damm has managed to take one of life’s most mundane activites — commuting — and turn it into a mind-bending work of art. For the “Transits” video, Damm recorded trolleys and other traffic cruising around the streets of downtown Basel, Switzerland. She then ran the footage through custom software made by collaborator Martin Schneider, creating a generative video that shows the ghostly trails of humans in motion. The results are eerie to say the least. Perfect for Halloween.
