After painstakingly stripping away layers of wall paint, an art gallery in Berlin has uncovered a 2003 piece by Banksy, the much-ballyhooed street art pranskter whose politically-charged stencil work now sells for six figures.
The piece, which features five soldiers with angel wings and smiley faces, was revealed when the wall was stripped away as part of an installation by Brad Downey, a Berlin-based American artist who also took part in the original 2003 exhibit with the anonymous street artist.
The work will be shown until October 22. Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien boss Stephane Bauer said they haven’t decided what to do with the piece after. Our advice: sell it. You’re welcome. No charge for that.
