Mind-Bending Generative Art by Andreas Nicolas Fischer

We’re always interested in work that cultivates the fertile zone where art and science overlap, and Andreas Nicolas Fischer does it better than most. With his “Schwarm” series, the Munich-born, Berlin-based artist created prints of beautiful abstract forms, generated using his own custom software.

“The software uses a swarm of particles to gradually create an abstract composition based on a series of photographs,” writes the artist. “The drawing agents behave according to a set of rules, but have a degree of autonomy. Each time the software is being run it produces an infinitie sequence of unique images over time.”

We’re not sure precisely that means, but the images sure are purdy. Check out this video of the work in action.
