In geology, “accumulation of margin” refers loosely to the process of sedimentation that takes place between oceanic and continental crust. At the margin, the earth builds upon itself. In this poetic series of blurry, washed-out images from Japanese photographer Yoshimura Nana, light itself is both medium and margin, connecting artist and viewer.
“I recognize my consciousness brought from one photograph and use the photograph as a material to reconstruct a new image,” she says. “What sort of consciousness will be there when the image produced by a photograph is mixed with other’s experiences?”
Beautiful work. View the whole collection on Nana’s website.
