Neptune Norte: A LEED Platinum Beach Residence in Encinitas

In the market for a beach house? Got green ideals and a few million to spare? If so, then we’ve found your dream home. It’s in Encinitas, California, and it hits all the right notes (save for affordability). Called Neptune Norte, the 5,000+ square foot residence was designed and built by brothers Jeff Adams of Wave Crest and Steve Adams of Adams Design Associates, who managed to land the house LEED Platinum certification with 108 points.

Among the home’s many green features are a 5.9 kW solar PV system, a vegetated green roof, a rainwater cistern for irrigation, and no- or low-VOC paints, sealants, and adhesives throughout. The house is also fully optimized for energy efficiency, consuming about 54 percent less energy than a new home built to code.

That’s the good part. The catch? You’ll have to fork out a cool $7 million to buy it.
