Italdesign-Giugiaro is an Italian design firm (duh) that has produced some of the more stunning, progressive vehicles the auto industry has ever seen. The Quantara concept is one such car. The sleekly-styled, eco-friendly hybrid combines a 3.3-liter V6, electric motor with a mid-mounted rear engine, with power supplemented by solar panels mounted to the front.
In recent weeks, white-painted Quantaras equipped with meters and dome lights have been popping up on the streets of Rome, acting as exotic taxicabs. These are not your run-of-the-mill cabs. The Quaranta is the world's fastest hybrid, accelerating 0-60 miles per hour in 4 seconds, with a top speed of 155 miles per hour. Not that they'll get a chance to do that on the narrow, overcrowded streets of the Italian capital.
