In The Edge, a collection of images of open spaces along Moscow city limits, Estonia-born photographer Alexander Gronsky explores the ambiguous divide between city and nature, urban and suburban. With the city skyline looming behind, isolated figures revel in the snow, attempting to connect with the natural surroundings. Like lots of Gronsky’s work, the Aperture Portfolio Prize-winning collection hits on themes of alienation and separation, both from nature and ourselves. Gronsky lives and works in Moscow.
