Whatever’s Clever

Sneaker shoppers will be taking home their next pair of PUMAs in something sustainable. The apparel company’s new eco-conscious packaging and distribution system, which was unveiled on SHFT last year, will start hitting stores soon.

Designed by Yves Behar’s fuseproject studio, the so-called “Clever Little Bag” is part of PUMA’s footprint reduction strategy. It’s claimed that the packaging concept will reduce shoebox paper by 65 percent, while decreasing water, energy and diesel consumption in manufacturing by more than 60 percent. The company also says that replacing the traditional shopping bag will save 275 tons of plastic.

Of course, those claims will never be substantiated. But we have to admit that the bag is pretty clever.

Thanks to the fuseproject blog for the heads up.
