Marcelo Gomes: Nicaragua

It’s weird to think that it wasn’t that long ago that Nicaraugua was a no-go zone for travelers. For lots of people, the country still conjures images of the Contra War’s camouflage-clad guerrillas. Today, the former political hotspot is actually one of the safest countries in the Americas, and sun and adventure seekers are getting with the peaceful vibe. Surfers, in particular, are being drawn to the Pacific coast, where some of the best breaks in the world await.

A while back, T Magazine sent Marcelo Gomes to Nicaragua to document the country’s burgeoning beach culture. The talented Brooklyn-based photographer returned with these beautiful blurred images on film that have us pining to pack up our boards and head south.
