Sharon Van Etten, "Leonard"

Kaleidoscopic visuals seem to be having a bit of a moment in music videos of late. We’re not mad. Directed by Sam Zimman, the new video for Sharon Van Etten‘s “Leonard,” one of several standout tracks off her excellent 2012 release, Tramp, continues the trend. The clip simulates the feeling you’d get if you were staring into a kaleidoscope as you drove through the city, which is not a recommended activity but it looks pretty cool. With Van Etten’s ghostly face periodically appearing in the background, there’s a subtle unearthliness that perfectly suits the delicate melody. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s a pleasant watch.
