SHFT presents 'no strangers' at the Annenberg Space for Photography

“Within a generation or two, fully half of humanity’s accumulated wisdom and knowledge will be sacrificed upon the alter of progress,” says Wade Davis, curatorial advisor of no strangers: ancient wisdom in a modern world and one of the world’s most influential advocates of indigenous cultures. The group exhibition at the Annenberg Space for Photography is a celebration the extraordinary diversity of the world’s indigenous cultures, which are disappearing from the planet at an alarming rate.

We met with Davis and some of the show’s other contributing photographers, including Chris Rainier, Thomas Kelly, Aaron Huey, and Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher, who discussed the show and explained how they go about getting to the heart of the cultures they shoot.
