The Gap by Ira Glass
In 2009, This American Life host Ira Glass made a powerful statement about creativity. Referring to his own experiences as a writer, the NPR personality highlighted the idea that when creative people begin their careers, there is a gap between their good taste and their ability to create worthwhile work. Only by sticking with it can that gap be closed.
Now, artist Daniel Sax has transformed Glass’s wisdom into this fabulous typographic video. “I made it for myself and for anybody who is in doubt with his creative career,” he writes. “I also think that Ira Glass’ message isn’t only limited to the creative industry. It can be applied to everyone who starts out in a new environment and is willing to improve.”
It’s great to see that Sax has breathed new life into Glass’s words, taking them viral once again. It’s the perfect mantra for anyone undertaking creative pursuits.
