Water in the Anthropocene

We know that human activities have powerful effects on the physical environment, but visualizing and explaining these effects is not always easy. Take the water cycle, for example. It’s obvious that things like damming, extraction, and irrigation are affecting the global water supply (on which all life depends), but it’s difficult to see the whole picture. This new video from The Global Water System Project at the University of Bonn, in Germany, fills in the gaps. Looking past the slightly overdramatic narration, “Water in the Anthropocene” is an illuminating illustration of the human footprint on the global water cycle.
