April Bloomfield: Farm to Table

As executive chef of beswarmed NYC hotspots The Spotted Pig and The Breslin, April Bloomfield has earned a reputation for creating simple, unpretentious dishes with meat playing the starring role. But, as we learned from Nowness, the celebrated chef is big into veggies too. “I love my veggies,” says the chef. “Sometimes I could just do without the meat.”

Brazilian photographer Marcelo Gomes followed Bloomfield to the Berried Treasures farm in Cooks Falls, NY — one of her preferred sources for organic fruit and vegetables — and snapped some hazy pics of the chef foraging for seasonal delights.

Gomes' picture project, part of the Food to Table exhibition at the Levi's Photo Workshop, has been put into zine form as well, with proceeds going to Edible Schoolyard New York.
