Hungry in America

Thanks to the obesity epidemic and the fact that the average American supermarket holds approximately 45,000 different items, the assumption is that Americans as a people are well-fed, and then some. In fact, the truth is quite the opposite. Nearly 50 million Americans, 17 million of them children, go hungry every day. And the problem isn’t a scarcity of food, but a gross mismanagement of resources.

Enter filmmakers Lori Silverbush and Kristi Jacobson. The pair have started production on a new documentary called “Hungry in America”, which aims to shed light on the critical issues in America’s food system. With powerhouse chefs and bon-vivants Mario Batali and Tom Colichio co-producing, this film might actually have the legs to make a difference.
