With “Redwood,” San Francisco director/photographer Steven Poe offers up an amazing slice of nature porn in the form of a dreamlike adventure through California’s coastal forests. Set to a score by Yuki Murata, the video is a gorgeous, meditative redwood forest experience. The project began as a personal challenge to practice shooting high-contrast scenes, Poe said, but grew into this time-lapse short. Using high dynamic range (HDR) techniques, Poe was able to capture the contrast between sunlight and deep shade in the dense forest. Make sure to watch the video full screen to appreciate the level of detail.
